Our methodology

A listing isn’t a check.
A check needs evidence.

Trusted Roofing Contractors organizes public-source company information for homeowners. We keep research, ownership and verification separate so a useful profile never implies a credential we haven’t confirmed.

Current release: website research only. No company has earned a directory verification check. Ownership claims, document uploads and annual reverification are not active yet.

What we publish today

Our first company profile records services, public business contact details, a website-identified home base and advertised service areas. Each group of facts includes a source link and research date. A company website is evidence of what the company says—not independent evidence that its license is active or insurance applies.

We preserve unknowns. We do not invent founding dates, permit activity, reviews, ratings, certifications or guarantees. We don’t copy contractor job photographs without permission.

Three different states

  1. Listed: a company has a researched public-source profile. Listing is not an endorsement.
  2. Claimed: in the planned claim program, a representative will prove control of an appropriate business contact channel, with additional review when authority is unclear. A claim alone will not confirm credentials.
  3. Verified: in the planned verification program, the relevant evidence must be checked against the correct business and jurisdiction before a dated badge appears.

What a future check will cover

The planned program includes current license or applicable local registration, relevant insurance evidence, and workers’ compensation evidence or a valid applicable exemption. Evidence requirements vary by jurisdiction. A permit record is not a substitute for an unrelated license, nor does a license prove insurance.

Anything automation cannot confirm will require review. Document upload alone will not produce a check. A future badge will show the evidence types, scope and dates; expired required evidence will remove verified status. The check will not guarantee workmanship or an outcome.

Why some pages stay out of search

Our city pages need at least five published companies and meaningful sourced local information before indexing. Company pages need useful services, service areas and sourced details, not just a name and number. These are minimum gates, not a promise of search rankings.

This first release keeps all directory and company routes crawlable but marked noindex and outside the sitemap. We have not populated local cost, storm or permit modules. The launch sitemap contains only substantive brand, methodology and policy pages.

Official sources we’re researching

Source documentation reviewed October 3, 2026. Source discovery does not mean that a company’s license has been verified.

Corrections are part of the process

Every profile links to our corrections and removal desk. We review the source and the entity match before changing a record. Ownership or insurance evidence should not be sent through a public listing or ordinary chat.
